random musings on the tag etc

i find it so interesting how we’re really open and okay with posting gratuitous violence or disturbing content, and actually encourage it, and yet a lot of people are critical of any sort of explicit romantic or sexual content. the nature of the game encourages violence in fanart and other fan-created content, of course.

i’m just curious as to why mature content is seen as “appropriate” only as long as it doesn’t involve sexual situations. guts and blood and gore are fine, but never a penis.

thoughts?? i’m not accusing anyone of anything i genuinely want to know what everyone thinks

well…violence is an intergral part of the game while with smutty stuff are mostly fanon at best?

but then again I haven’t seen people being critical about that on tumblr people here are pretty open about rule34. I think the restraint is more self-inflicted because some people are shy about posting the sexys

but then its like….sexual content in general aren’t…considered to be the same as violence? when I was little I used to watch movies with my parents and whenever there’s GUNSHOT MURDER SWORD DISEMBOWELMENT yeah no problem but I get ushered out whenever there’s sexy stuff going on.

I think it’s more of a suspension of disbelief thing

yeah that’s pretty much what i figured. i don’t see graphic violence/sexuality as being super different on the whole explicitness scale, so i guess i just think differently haha. i guess i was just surprised people actually start to shame themselves when they post stuff like that.

again nothing i get worked up over just something i find interesting.
